Agatha Christie’s Whodunnit Drama in Blackpool/Wirral

In a world where everyone seems to be harbouring a dark secret, this courtroom drama will aim to keep the audience guessing and gripped until the final fatal moment.

Emily French, an elderly woman who recently left her considerable estate to the charming young Leonard, is found dead. Murdered. Though he protests his innocence, Leonard quickly becomes the prime suspect. His plea hinges on his wife’s testimony, until the appearance of a mysterious young woman, bearing an unexpected clue. Will the truth be revealed in time or will Leonard be declared guilty at the hands of Witness for the Prosecution?

After this whodunnit drama appears at Blackpool’s Grand Theatre in March, the production will revisit the region at New Brighton’s Floral Pavilion for six nights in April.

Leading the cast is Honeysuckle Weeks (from BAFTA award-winning Foyle’s War), who plays Romaine, Denis Lill (The Royal), as Sir Wilfred, Ben Nealson (Soldier, Soldier), as Leonard Vole, and Robert Duncan (Drop the Dead Donkey) as Mayhew. Peter Byrne, Jennifer Wilson and 1960s teen idol Mark Wynter complete the cast.

The Agatha Christie Theatre Company has previously visited Wirral’s Floral Pavilion with productions of The Hollow, The Unexpected Guest, And Then There Were None and Spider’s Web.

Witness for the Prosecution visits the Grand Theatre 8-13 March, before appearing at the Floral Pavilion on 19-24 April.
