Five Reasons To See … 3MT HEADWAY Scratch Night

The Three Minute Theatre is hosting a week long series of events for International Women’s Day. One of these is 3MT Headway Scratch Night. We asked the producers for five reasons why you should go along.

1. Five New Writers
The night is showcasing work in progress work by 5 new writers and performers. ‘Release and Surrender’ will consist of three monologues based on real experiences and ‘Unbearable Weight’ is the first collaboration between Stephanie Claire (4 stars, ‘Confessions of a Waitress’, The Good Review) and Hannah Smith.

2. Raising female issues
The two pieces will focus on the issues that women are still facing today. This event is part of the 3MT’s week long programme celebrating International Women’s day and the evening will cover the story of what happens after abuse, the pressure women are under in a ‘have it all’ world, and the gap between real women and the women in literature we aspire to be.

3. Charitable Event
As with all the event’s being held at the 3MT this week, this is a charity event, with every ticket being sold for this evening going to domestic abuse charity ‘Independent Choices.’

4. Audience Forum
These are ‘work-in-progress’ pieces and after the performance there will be an audience forum where your response to the work shown will help develop the pieces. You can chat directly with the writers and performers about the issues raised and where they intend the work to go.

5.  Performance by the Iron Will Ensemble
The evening will be kicked off by a performance from the all female choir ‘Iron Will Ensemble’ who will be introducing the evening with a music and spoken word performance.

The 3MT HEADWAY Scratch Night takes place on 5 March at The Three Minute Theatre in Manchester.
