Last Chance to see Scouse Pacific

Royal Court Liverpool has extended its comedy Scouse Pacific until next week.

The theatre said the play is now the best selling Christmas show in Royal Court history and the venue’s second best selling show of all time.

The show celebrates Christmas with sun, sea, songs and laughs on the beautiful island of Secosu!

Populated by a family descended from an 18th century shipwrecked Scouser (Billy Riley) all is peace, quiet and bananas until Father O’Flaherty arrives to convert the natives with his guitar and a bevy of singing nuns. A tunnel soon appears and Burke and Head arrive from the neighbouring island, founded by Riley’s arch enemy – the dastardly Horatio Hoylake. Add in a rumbling volcano, history lessons from washed up copies of the Liverpool Echo and a scouse wedding and this is too good to miss!

The theatre said writer Fred Lawless has followed the success of last year’s Christmas production, Merry Ding Dong, with another show that is jam packed with music and laughs.

The cast contains a host of Royal Court favourites: Paul Duckworth (Beating Berlusconi, Reds & Blues), Stephen Fletcher (Merry Ding Dong, Our Day Out, Lennon), Lindzi Germain (A Fistful Of Collars), Rachel Rae (Stags and Hens), Andrew Schofield (Council Depot Blues, Lennon) and Alan Stocks (A Fistful Of Collars).

The show is directed by Bob Eaton with musical direction from Howard Gray.

Kevin Fearon, chief executive of Royal Court Liverpool, said: “This show has been such a massive success that we have had to keep on adding in performances. The original extension week is now virtually sold out so we have asked the actors to keep on going for another week. The cast and crew are having a great time on the show so they didn’t need much persuading! It is rare for a show to extend once but to add a second extra week shows what an extra special show it is.”

The show contains some strong language and is suitable for over 16s.

Scouse Pacific runs until Saturday 22 January.
