HSM 2 re-visits region at Empire

Following its visit to Manchester’s Opera House, the Stage Entertainment UK touring production of High School Musical 2 Live on Stage! is making a return to the region next week.

Star of stage and television and local celebrity, Les Dennis, will take on the role of Mr Fulton, following his last appearance at the Empire in the Christmas panto Peter Pan, and he is joined by GMTV ‘Search for Troy’ winner Liam Doyle as Troy Bolton.

Local performer James Lacey, a runner up in GMTV’s talent search and also a former Empire Theatre usher, will play Jack Scott.

The principal cast also includes Nikki Mae as Gabriella Montez, Matt Kennedy as Ryan Evans and Laura Hall as Sharpay Evans. Carlton Connell will play Chad Danforth with Shakira Akabusi as Taylor McKessie, Dina Tree as Martha Cox and Emma Dukes as Kelsi Neilson.

Jeff Calhoun, director of HSM 2, said: “We were so delighted with the way that UK audiences took to the stage version of High School on the first tour and I can promise more of the same with number two. To have a cast lead by such a brilliant, established talent like Les and our amazing new find Liam, not to mention his fellow GMTV finalists Ian and James, I know that fans young and old are in for a fantastic time when we visit them later this year.”

Disney’s High School Musical 2 Live on Stage! visits Liverpool’s Empire Theatre from Monday 1 February until Saturday 6 February. Tickets cost £12.50-£30.

HSM 2 is produced by Stage Entertainment UK in association with Disney Theatrical Productions.
