Annie (Tour – Milton Keynes)

The perennial children’s favourite Annie is touring the UK with a cast that includes Su Pollard as the evil Miss Hannigan and David MacAlister as Daddy Warbucks. Here, 11-year-old Lexy Knibbs offers her view of the production:

It was great. I really enjoyed everything about this show. Annie (Victoria Sian Lewis) was very good at the dancing and the acting – she was Annie. She looked like she’d had a lot of practice.

Su Pollard was brilliant. The voice fitted her perfectly. She was scary and a bit weird, but very funny as well. When she kept trying to get friendly with the man who
delivers the laundry it was hilarious. Daddy Warbucks was very good and he and Annie really connected. They worked
well together. And his secretary (Simone Craddock) was brilliant too – she looked the part and she was really into it.
The orphanage girls were very good, especially the one who played Molly (Ellie Turner) – she was excellent. The best songs I thought were You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile, Tomorrow and Maybe, and the band made a great noise, although they were a bit loud – or the microphones were a bit quiet. One or the other. The set was fantastic, very believable, and there were some great dance routines, especially the Hooverville scene, which was very impressive.
And the dog did everything it was told to do.
