Birmingham Repertory Theatre has announced open auditions for the upcoming stage adaptation of the much-loved series Nativity The Musical.

Producers are looking for children, aged between 9 and 11 years old by 1 September 2017, who are confident singers, dancers and performers to audition for lead roles in the new musical. They must be no taller than 122 cm and reside in the West Midlands. Full details can be found on the Birmingham Rep website.

Written and directed by Debbie Isitt, who helmed the film series, the musical has music and lyrics by Nicky Ager and Isitt, choreography by Andrew Wright (Guys and Dolls) and design by David Woodhead.

Talking about the opportunity Isitt said: "The joyful and funny performances by the children in the Nativity! films were a huge part of their success and we’re hoping to recreate that for Nativity! The Musical. This is a great opportunity for young performers and I can’t wait to see and meet the talent that is out there."

The musical takes place at St Bernadette's School, where they've decided to mount a musical version of the Nativity. It features songs from the films including "Sparkle and Shine", "Nazareth" and "One Night One Moment".

Nativity The Musical will premiere at the Birmingham Rep on 20 October before touring to Southend, Sheffield, Manchester, Plymouth, London and Leeds.
