Rocky Horror celebrates 40th anniversary in Birmingham

This week see’s the opening of Richard O’Brien’s Rocky Horror Picture Show open for one week only at Birmingham’s New Alexandra Theatre.

Heading up the cast is Whatsonstage.com Award winner (for his role as Felicia/Adam in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert) Oliver Thornton in the iconic role of Frank ‘n’ Furter. Joining him, fresh from the recent arena tour of Jesus Christ Superstar, is Ben Forster as squeaky-clean Brad and Emmerdale actress Roxanne Pallett as Janet. Rounding off the impressive cast is X Factor alumni Rhydian as Rocky.

The Rocky Horror Show tells the story of Brad and his fiancée Janet who meet Dr Frank’n’Furter by chance when their car breaks down outside his house. It is an adventure they’ll never forget, with fun, frolics, frocks, and frivolity, bursting with timeless songs and outrageous outfits. Directed by Christopher Luscombe, The Rocky Horror Show is a guaranteed party, which famously combines science-fiction, horror, comedy and music and encourages audience participation meaning, of course, getting dressed in your most outrageous fancy dress.

The show features classic songs such as Science Fiction/Double Feature, Damnit Janet and, of course, the timeless floor-filler, The Time-Warp.
