Sister Act (Southampton – tour)

Sister Act is a delightful, feel good show playing to very varied audiences.

Cynthia Erivo -seen in the West End playing Madeleine in Umbrellas of Cherbourg – kicks off the show as Disco Diva Delores Van Cartier with a stunning delivery of “Take Me To Heaven” and brings her own interpretation to the role made famous by Whoopi Goldberg in the 1992 movie of the same name. Her funky stage presence and great comic timing make for a stunning performance.

Act 1 with catchy numbers, such as “It`s Good To Be A Nun” and “Raise Your Voice,” leaves the audience foot tapping & grinning with sheer delight!

Mother Superior, alias Corrie`s Denise Black and Monsignoir O`Hara – Brookside`s Michael Starke – head a flawless cast to effortlessly provide a brilliant blend of humour and harmony.

Group collaboration from the cast that includes Julie Atherton, Edward Baruwa, Cavin Cornwall, Gavin Alex, ,Jaccquline Clarke and Laurie Scarth. Ensures every excellent ensemble brings buzz & indescribable energy into the auditorium.

Watch out for newcomer Tyrone Huntley in his professional debut as TJ. His sassy, comical performance and dazzling smile, make him well worth watching.

The hilarious convent chase and superbly rendered versions of songs, “Sunday Morning Fever”, “Bless Our Show” and “When I Find My Baby” feature in Act 2 and if Julia Atherton`s rendering of “The Life I Never Lead” is a little screechy it was soon forgotten in the fabulous, lively performance of “Sister Act”.

The gloriously funny, finale extravaganza, featuring a disco/funk rendition of “Spread Your Love Around,” leaves the audience dazzled and wanting more! The absolutely superb support of the band directed by Mark Crossland makes it a glorious and fun evening.
