This vibrant, classy production breathes new life and energy into this infamous MGM musical. The extraordinary company engage the audience from the opening bars and continue to hold them close until the final breathtaking routine comes to an end.

Directed and choreographed with great heart and humour by Patti Colombo, there is a contemporary edge which allows the routines to explode with life. Even the more traditional moments of the brothers waiting for winter to pass turn into a hotbed of fun.

Helena Blackman is a fine voiced, feisty Millie, more than capable of dealing with the Pontipee pin-up brothers. Sam Attwater is a charming and winning Adam, and this central dynamic drives a great company, some of whom are also actor musicians.

An impressive, effective set design (Anna Louizos), coupled with atmospheric lighting from Nick Richings and costume by Elizabeth Dennis, keeps the show true to its roots with picture perfect moments.

There are technical issues to address, the sound was patchy, voices were missed entirely or overwhelmed by the band and there was also a momentary stop in proceedings due to a "technical hitch."

However, this is a production full of warmth and happiness and the company is excellent. A highly recommended entertainment on these dark rainy nights.
