Sell A Door Theatre Company tour Robert Louis Stevenson trio

The company will commission three new adaptations of Robert Louis Stevenson works over the next three years for UK tours

Touring theatre company Sell A Door has announced it will commission three new adaptations of Robert Louis Stevenson works, to tour the UK over the next three years.

The first of the three adaptations will be a new version of Kidnapped by Ivan Wilkinson, which will open at company's Scottish home, the Beacon Arts Centre, Greenock, on 16 January 2014.

Further adaptations of Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde and Treasure Island will follow in 2015 and 2016, and the company are hoping to get young emerging writers on board.

Kidnapped will see a company of five actors bringing the coming of age tale to life using puppetry and physical storytelling, and is billed as "a show for all the family". The production will tour for five months including the company's London home at the Greenwich Theatre.

Artistic director David Hutchinson said: "We are thrilled to make a three year commitment to this astonishing author who’s work defined the nineteenth century adventure tales and is one of the most translated authors worldwide."
