Lewis’ Screwtape Letters Tour to Play the Regent

Saltmine Theatre Co, from Dudley in the West Midlands, is one of Britain’s premier Christian theatre companies. Now, as part of a major nationwide tour, they will be presenting their award winning production of C S Lewis’ classic book, The Screwtape Letters at the Regent Centre, Christchurch.

The satirical Screwtape Letters, is set in England in 1939 and Professor Screwtape’s office in Hell. Here, he trains two junior devils in the fine art of temptation, setting them to work on humans to secure their damnation. The Professor’s reputation in Hell depends on the success of his devilish plan!

The play remains true to the original text, exploring the characters and themes created by C S Lewis. It is a contemporary morality play that looks at how faith, principles and ethics are observed in everyday life, but in an entertaining and humorous way. The Screwtape Letters won the coveted Edinburgh Festival Fringe Sellout Show Award in 2004 and 2005, thanks to Nigel Forde’s “sparkling script” and the “impressive” performance of David Robinson as Professor Screwtape.

Regent Centre, Christchurch – Thursday 28 October at 7.30pm.
