Michael Morpurgo’s Toro! Toro! tours UK this autumn

Simon Reade’s adaptation will tour the UK from next month

Following its 2010 run at the Salisbury Playhouse, Simon Reade‘s adaptation of Michael Morpurgo‘s children’s story Toro! Toro! is embarking on a national tour this autumn.

Directed and designed by Philip Wilson (who directed the 2010 production), it’s recommended for children aged eight upwards.

The tour kicks off at Exeter Northcott Theatre from the 8 to 12 October 2013 before visiting:

21 & 22 October – the egg, Bath

28 & 29 October – Cast, Doncaster

30 October – Lighthouse, Poole

5 – 16 November – Tobacco Factory, Bristol

19 November – Swindon Arts Centre

21 & 22 November – The Lowry, Salford Quays

24 November – Lakeside Theatre,
University of Essex

25 November – Buxton Opera House

27 & 26 November – Curve Theatre, Leicester

Performed by Gary Turner, the story is set against the backdrop of the Spanish civil war and centres on a young boy whose life on his parents’ cattle farm in southern Spain is shattered when his favourite bull-calf is destined to fight in the bullring.

Adapter Simon Reade has previously dramatised Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice (recently seen at the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre) and Michael Morpurgo’s Twist of Gold, Private Peaceful and The Mozart Question.
