Filter return to Bristol for Twelfth Night

Following on from a critically acclaimed London run and extensive UK and international tour, Filter return to the Tobacco Factory Theatre with their riotous interpretation of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night.

Directed by Sean Holmes, artistic director of the Lyric Hammersmith, Filter’s characteristically radical and riotous take on this well worn classic promises a unique and inventive experience, with no two shows the same. Decisions on the direction of the performance are taken ‘on the hoof’ as the narrative unfolds, and each unique performance develops in a different way each night.

Two worlds collide in Shakespeare’s lyrical Twelfth Night. Olivia’s melancholic, puritanical household clashes head on with Sir Toby Belch’s insatiable appetite for drunken debauchery. Orsino’s relentless pursuit of Olivia and her steward Malvolio’s extraordinary transformation typify the madness of love in Illyria, a land of make-believe and illusion, mistaken identity and a ridiculous pair of yellow stockings!

Billed as ‘one of the freshest and most acclaimed Shakespeare productions of recent years’ it was originally performed as part of the RSC’s Complete Works Festival.
