Bristol date kicks off new tour for Armstrong & Miller

Following the resounding success of BBC 1’s BAFTA-winning The Armstrong and Miller Show, Ben Miller and Alexander Armstrong will be hitting the road in Autumn 2010 and touring a brand new live show around all the UK’s major venues.

With their usual mix of the beautifully observed and the utterly barmy, Ben and Xander will be performing a parade of characters from their extensive dressing-up box and wig-store including; The street-talking WWII chav pilots; Brabbins and Fyffe, the filthy alter-egos of Flanders and Swann; Jilted Jim, dumped at the altar but still on his honeymoon; Terry Devlin, the royal correspondent who really KNOWS the royals; Dennis Lincoln-Park, the accident-prone culture buff; the Frank Dad; and so many more…

The pair met whilst studying at Cambridge and performed their first full-length show together at the Edinburgh Fringe in 1994, nominated for the Perrier Comedy Award for their return appearance at the festival in 1996. As a result of these early successes, the television series Armstrong and Miller was commissioned and ran for four series in total (on the Paramount Comedy Channel and then Channel Four) during the late 1990s and early 2000s. After a six year break, the show was recommissioned for Hattrick Productions as The Armstrong and Miller Show, and ran on BBC1 in the autumns of 2007 and 2009. In the intervening years both carved out successful individual careers and clocked up a number of memorable TV appearances. Amongst many others, Ben has featured in: Primeval, Moving Wallpaper – and as the voice of the PG Tips Monkey opposite Johnny Vegas!, and Xander: Beast, Mutual Friends, and as the ‘Pimms O’clock’ man in that memorable advertising campaign.

Kicking off The Armstrong and Miller Show tour, which is being presented by Mick Perrin for Just For Laughs Live Ltd, the pair will play at the Bristol Hippodrome on 23 September, before embarking on a nationwide journey, with dates at over thirty venues, including the Pavilion Bournemouth on 4 November, ending with a six night run at the New Wimbledon Theatre, London.

Ben and Xander comment: ‘We are cock-a-hoop to be stepping out on tour in Autumn 2010. Expect all your favourite Armstrong and Miller characters and sketches in a market-fresh brand spanking new show.’
