BSO to play at unique Inside/Outside Festival

Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and Lighthouse, Poole’s Centre for the Arts are collaborating on a series of three exciting concerts that will present the venues Concert Hall as has never been seen before.

The Indoor/Outdoor Festival is set to bring the experience of the outdoor concert inside, recreating the atmosphere of an outdoor classical spectacular, without being troubled by the weather! Complete with a green grassy lawn, and specially designed lighting effects that recreate an indoor sunset and moonrise, patrons are being invited to bring their blankets or seating, and enjoy a relaxed – dry – summers evening of entertainment.

Friday 25 June. The BSO presents the music of George Gershwin in ‘A Night out with George’. Presented by Stewart Collins, the programme includes “An American in Paris”, “Rhapsody in Blue” and “Girl Crazy Overture”, amongst others.

A ‘Mini BSO Teddy Bears’ Picnic Concert’ takes to the grass on the afternoon of Saturday 26 June, designed for children aged 5 to 11, and Mums and Dads too. The Mini BSO promises an engaging hour of ‘fun and frolics with plenty of participation’, featuring favourite works including “The Bare Necessities”, “Me and My Teddy Song”, and of course “If you go down to the woods today…”.

The festival ends, on the evening of 26 June with a return to the full orchestra, along with the Bournemouth Symphony Chorus, in a ‘BSO Choral Spectacular’ – the best of classical choral music, with a definite Last Night of Proms flavour!

This series presents a unique chance to see the Lighthouse Concert Hall as never before!
