Dean Chisnall stars in Shrek tour

The cast for ”Shrek”’s first tour of the UK and Ireland has been announced

Having played the title role in Shrek the Musical on the West End stage, Dean Chisnall is returning to play the ogre in the show's forthcoming tour of the UK and Ireland.

The tour, which kicks off in July, marks the WhatsOnStage Award-winning musical's first tour of the UK and Ireland.

The cast will also feature Faye Brooks as Fiona, Idriss Kargbo as Donkey, and Gerard Carey as Lord Farquaad.

Further cast members include Bronté Barbé, Nikki Bentley, Jennifer Caldwell, Candace Furbert, Steffan Harri, Will Haswell, James Lacey, Mia Lincoln, Neil Moors, Jenny O’Leary, Georgina Parkinson, Rohan Pinnock-Hamilton, Ryan Reid, Leo Roberts, Jacqui Sanchez, Oliver Tester and Kerry Winter.

Nigel Harman will direct the tour, which opens at the Grand Theatre in Leeds on 23 July 2014. Harman won both a WhatsOnStage and Olivier Award for his role as Lord Farquaad in the West End.

After Leeds, the tour will visit: visit Bristol, Nottingham, Belfast, Dublin, Oxford, Manchester, Aberdeen, Canterbury, Newcastle, Glasgow, Sheffield, Norwich, Southampton, Plymouth and Milton Keynes, with further venues still to be announced.

Adapted from the 2001 animated film, Shrek the Musical was first seen on Broadway in 2008.
