Sell-out Legs For The Bike Shed

Following a sell-out run at London’s Tara Arts Studio, His Spread Legs, written and directed by Ben Webb arrives at Exeter’s Bike Shed Theatre. The Risking Enchanment production is playing as part of The (One)derers, a one week festival of one person shows, which runs 14 -19 February.

His Spread Legs is described as a ‘satirical and poignant piece’, and is inspired by the biblical Song of Songs, an allegorical series of love poems found in the Old Testament, which tells of the courtship and consummation between a man and a woman. This new one-man play revives this story for our times, where love is now free to take many forms, but desire is no less complicated.

A young man talks about life, love and loss in this haunting and imaginative
new production. Funny, sad, and very human, His Spread Legs is a light entertainment with serious intentions. This universal story of love, entwines poetry, music and physical imagery into a bold and beautiful excavation of the consequences of desire.

Formed in 2009, Risking Enchantment is a theatre company dedicated to exploring and extending the possibilities of theatre art through collaborative effort. They make theatre that opens up spaces in a closed world, which encourages the possibility of feeling more alive and the realisation of complex emotion.
