Maurice’s Jubilee comes to Bath.

Following a sell-out run at the 2012 Edinburgh Festival, Maurice’s Jubilee will appear at the Theatre Royal Bath from Monday 4 to Saturday 9 February on its first UK tour. This new play is written by Olivier Award winning Nichola McAuliffe, who reprises her role as Katie, alongside Olivier Award winning Julian Glover as Maurice and Sheila Reid as Helena.

Maurice is determined to reach his 90th birthday, which is the day before the Diamond Jubilee. The Queen, having made him a promise 60 years before, is coming to tea. His wife is convinced he’s never met the Queen. His nurse thinks it’s time he did.

Maurice’s Jubilee is the hilariously funny and poignant take on timeless themes, the exploration of one man’s enduring commitment to a dream, and an eternal love triangle, fallen on hard times.

Olivier Award winning Julian Glover’s, whose stage credits include Oliver! at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane; Henry IV and Henry V for the Royal Shakespeare Company; and Richard II at the Old Vic, recently spoke to whatsonstage/northwest about the production in advance of it’s presentation in Manchester.
