A cast of well known local performers take you on a whistle-stop tour of more than 900 years of Abergavenny's roller coaster history through popular music and songs in Abergavenny Chronicled!
In aid of the Abergavenny Chronicle's Sir Ray Tindle Fund.
Salem, Massachusetts 1692. When the stories of three local girls are taken as gospel, a small village populated by Puritans and petty local rivalries, is thrown into panic by talk of witchcraft. The community begins to purge itself, and as accusations fly suspicion alone is accepted as evidence. Written during the vigorous and unscrupulous investigations of Senator J R McCarthy in 1950's America. The Crucible is a timeless portrayal of communal hysteria and the evil of mindless persecution.
The five piece band perform with special guest Steve Wiltshire (sax, flute). Dire Streets are fronted by finger picking guitar ace John Brunsdon and his band of accomplished musicians. They cover tracks from early classics like Sultans of Swing and Lady Writer, through to the mega hits of the 1980s and Brothers in Arms.
Shakespeare's story of fairies, love and marriage told in ballet form.
This funny and heart-warming adaptation features vibrant classical choreography danced by some of the finest dancers around. Mendelssohn's joyous music is interpreted by Artistic Director Darius James, and highlights include radiant costumes, sets and video projection. The Queen of the Fairies, Titania, and Puck, the mischievous messenger, inhabit the supernatural fairy kingdom. Bottom and his boot-wearing 'Rude Mechanicals' present their famous play Pyramus and Thisbe. And finally, the lovers, caught in a thrilling web of mistaken identity and confusion, finally find their way through the Athenian forest to an unforgettable and joyous reconciliation.
The star of Blackadder, Time Team, and countless other shows joins us to discuss his autobiography, No Cunning Plan, and talk about his life - from the original production of Oliver! to the books of Terry Pratchett and journeying to the depths of the oceans with James Cameron. Sure to be a fascinating night, Tony will be talking for about 80-90 minutes then heading to the bar to sign books for everyone. A book is included in the ticket price, and will be collected on the door on the night.
